take a short studio tour with me!

Hi, i am claudia Abderhalden.

Born and raised in Switzerland, i have been living in Santa Barbara, California since 1997 where i completed an interior design program in 2003. After attending jewelry classes at the Santa Barbara Continuing Education Program i found my passion for working with precious metals and, applying my design background, i have been designing and crafting jewelry full time since 2007.

claudia A. designs are inspired by architecture, geometrical shapes and unusual color and material combinations. my goal is to create minimal, timeless pieces that can be worn every day and for special occasions alike.

While working primarily in sterling silver, i also incorporate gold, copper,  up-cycled bicycle tubing, and rubber into my jewelry designs. i am constantly looking for and exploring with new materials i can use as unusual accents in my jewelry designs and have worked with enamel, felt, and recycled packaging plastics in the past.

i apply techniques used in fabrication (soldering, forging, fusing, riveting, stone setting, oxidizing, folding, etc.), as well as weaving, folding, knitting and crocheting to handcraft earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and the occasional cuff link.

i started exhibiting at the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show in May 2005 and now exhibit regularly in various juried art festivals in California and across the US.

Designing and handcrafting jewelry has been a passion of mine for many years and i hope  to have the opportunity to share some of my creations with you!
